We Are Adults

Pam Sue overheard her young colleagues giggling over their experiences of dating men. 'How silly of them' she thought. Nothing in their heads but men - sounds like dating men is their only recreation!

Pam Sue has her own ideas of dating men, though the men she has actually dated could be counted on one hand. However she often told others that she set high standards for her male friends, which explained the lack of men who came into her life.

Currently there is one man who has been occupying her heart and mind. A tall, blond and charming man! Pam Sue grudginglyadmitted to herself that she harbors feelings of affection for Ivan, her driving instructor. 'I adore everything about him' she thought, 'from his head to his toes.' Not literally, she blushed within. It would no doubt shock the girls in the office if they know that Pam Sue would entertain such thoughts in her prudish mind!

Pam Sue smiled as she let her thoughts ran wild - imagining herself alone with Ivan in scenarios that were acceptable to her. Naughty no doubt, but not sexy - maybe a cuddle here, a touch there, some kisses, nothing more. She believed that Ivan respects her and therefore would not treat her shabbily;not the way that her colleagues had described about the men in their lives. She remembered his courtly manners and old-fashioned gestures to hold her elbow when crossing roads or open doors for her.

If she were to know what Ivan thinks, she would be very disappointed. Ivan is certainly not thinking of her; she is after all, his customer as well as student driver. At the most, he considered her a friend. Ivan has no feelings of passion towards her; he is after all, very much in love with his wife. Poor Ivan has no idea that Pam Sue is misreading his kindness and courteous manners. He would most probably faint if he has an inkling of what Pam Sue is thinking.

Ivan is neither old fashioned or saintly; he enjoys a dirty joke, sometimes gets crazily drunk with his pals, and once in a while whistles at a pretty girl! He just feels that ladies are to be treated with respect and kindness, especially older ladies like Pam Sue.

Meanwhile, Pam Sue is lost within her thoughts of dating men. Or rather, man! She fantasizes about the day that Ivan would invite her for movies or dinner at his house or a holiday in some exotic places! Anyone passing her workstation must have wondered why Pam Sue is smiling so dreamily!
