We Are Adults

I wanted my life to stay dating free so I could always enjoy travelling to destinations around the world. When I was age eighteen that last thing I wanted was to get married and have children. I thought that dating a man could take me away from my real passion, travelling.

I left school with A levels in French, Spanish as well as Travel and Tourism. I did a course on office work so I could do temporary jobs. Then as soon as I had enough money I could go off travelling.

My life was going well and I was managing the stay dating free. My best friend Gilly had such a very good looking boyfriend that I did feel a bit disappointed with myself and my situation sometimes. Many people would say that staying dating free wasn't much fun and they would be right.

At age nineteen I had saved up enough to go around Europe by train. I visited Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower. I went to Germany and took a boat trip on the River Rhine. I went to Italy and saw the canals in Venice. Then I came back home and worked for another eighteen months.

When I was age twenty I had saved enough money to go to Australia and New Zealand. I travelled on trains right across Australia. I went all the way from Perth to Sydney via Adelaide. Then I popped down to Melbourne. I got a flight up to Queensland so I could see the Great Barrier Reef. Then I flew over to Auckland. I visited some spectacular caves and it was exciting in the thermal area to see all that bubbling. Then I came home and worked for another sixteen months.

At age twenty three I managed to save up enough money to visit Africa. I did a safari from Cape Town to Nairobi in a truck with other travellers. It was there that I went off guard and let down my dating free rule. On the trip was a man called Charley. He was tall, dark and handsome. From the moment I saw him it was true love. He and I hit it off straight away. He was my sole mate I had thought. We shared a tent because we became lovers at beginning of the trip. The first time we had made love we had to stay really quiet and so the other travellers didn't hear us. It had been so passionate. We saw lions, giraffes, hippos and rhinos. Wow!
