We Are Adults

She goes into the dating site with a candle light lamp sitting on the nightstand beside her, all the while wondering who she might meet tonight. A whisper in the back of her mind says, maybe just maybe someone special is here tonight, as she types hello and asks what's going on in here tonight?

This can't be as hard as it was last time. Maybe she will have a guy get interested right away. The last time shewas here,she had agreed with her online boyfriend it would be the last time. That was 6 months ago and he is long gone now. If he is here, he isn't under his usual ID.

She doesn't care that everyone sees she is back. She never made any promises to anyone for anything that she couldn't deliver and those who she has flirted in here with before can know she is back. It's his lose not hers.

Reaching over to the end table she finds her glass of wine and turns down the candle light lamp another notch. Yes she hears a Whisper, this is much better. It just figures the phone would ring now.

Hello and good bye she picks up the cell phone. With one Touch and that loud chirp is gone. I can't handle anything else today. Just give me some peace already. It's been one of those days and she's done for now. Her body relaxes with the warming of her wine. Tonight I am going to get my mind off of work and everything else. High time I get back to me for a change. After all it's my birthday next week. 38 will be a good year I can just touch the sand on the surf now. Timothy won’t be coming to Hawaii like she had dreamed. It just wasn’t meant to be she supposed. It was for the best and time to move on. Let's see who is out in cyber land tonight, as she reaches out andto touch the candle light down one more click. She hears that whisper again calming her right to her toes, peace and quiet.
